Money for Nothin - Dire Straits Experience is a tribute band based in Gold Coast, QLD.
Money for Nothin play three sets of Dire Straits across about three hours, and it's all about detail. Frontman Terry McMahon sings and plays the guitar parts, recreating the riffs, solos and tone as they were recorded, in a six-piece band of experienced players. The first set might take in Walk of Life, Down to the Waterline and Romeo and Juliet. Sultans of Swing, Private Investigations and Tunnel of Love come mid-show, and the closing set runs through Twisting by the Pool, Lady Writer and Money for Nothing. It's a show for guitar lovers and committed fans. The Gold Coast band dates from 2017 and needs a stage of at least 5 by 3 metres, one standard power point and venue access three hours before the show. A warm-up covers band can be added, or elements of their affiliated Elton John and Status Quo tributes. Insured, travelling nationwide.
