Mel Wheeler is a hula hoop act based in Sydney, NSW.
Mel Wheeler's shows are short and fast, which makes them easy to slot into a program. The simplest is a freestyle routine of three to five minutes to a track you choose, with day hoops or LED hoops. The feature is a choreographed LED routine of four to eight minutes, hoop lights synced to the music, ending on the Human Slinky. She roves too, solo or with a group. Her hooping has featured on Daily Mail, Right This Minute and People Are Awesome, and she's spent over a decade in hoop and fire work. Mel turns up half an hour ahead to run a risk check of the performance area, and fire acts need 15 minutes to fuel up in a ventilated area close to the stage. She holds public liability insurance and first aid and fire safety training. Based in Sydney, she travels statewide.
