Mayan play heavy. The Brisbane band's sound is intense and atmospheric, with raw energy and a melodic streak running through it, and the live show can swing in unexpected directions. That comes from the players themselves. They're seasoned musicians, several of them multi-instrumentalists, with long experience across metal, punk and electronica, as well as solo acoustic work. The band has a clear purpose, too: to help bring back the energy and sense of community Brisbane's live music scene had in the late 90s.
