Lay Down The Groove

Lay Down The Groove started in Bogota, Colombia, in 2016 as a record label, DJ and production project, and moved to Melbourne in 2018. That history shows in the record bag. Latin, African and funk sit beside hip hop, dub and reggae, disco, and a long run of house styles from deep to Chicago and Detroit, plus electro, breakbeat and UK garage. They release music on vinyl and digital, and they keep adding new genres to what they produce and play. The result is a DJ set that can move across a lot of ground without losing the groove. It's handy for a party where the crowd's tastes are mixed, and that range has already taken them into all sorts of settings. They're based in Fitzroy.
