Kate Young

Pub rock, blues and rock 'n' roll are where Kate Young's gravelly voice really opens up, though she can pull it back for a pop song or a ballad. With more than 800 songs in her head, she's happy to take requests: Bon Jovi, Divinyls, Dolly Parton, Creedence, Amy Shark, Roxette, Beyonce. The format is up to you. She plays solo, pairs with Angie Childs, adds a percussionist, fronts Rubbish Birds of London (three big voices, acoustic guitar and percussion) or leads EMPIRE, her party rock band, and she can DJ and MC as well. Solo, she's happy with roughly one square metre of floor and one power outlet; the bands take more floor and more power. Basic lights come as standard. Kate has played the UK and Carnival cruise ships as well as NSW and Victoria. Wollongong is home, she's insured, and she travels nationwide.
