Hippie Flares is a cover band based in Newcastle, NSW.
Sixties hits from England, America and Australia, played by a band that brings its own sound and basic lighting: that's a night with Hippie Flares. The Newcastle group works through Happy Together, Monday Monday, Sunshine Superman, Proud Mary and California Dreamin', with The Mighty Quinn, Bus Stop and I Got You Babe along the way. They play up to two hours, as one or two 60-minute sets, and fill the gaps before, between and after with background music. Pick a semi-acoustic three-piece or bring in the five-piece for more volume. All they need is a safe playing space measuring 4 metres by 3 or more and a 10 or 15 amp power socket, and any generator must be safely earthed. Insured for public liability, the band plays within about 50 km of Newcastle.
