Hazel & The Thief

Fast fiddle, banjo and harmonica give Hazel & The Thief their bite, with Hazel out front and a crew of seasoned players, the Thief, behind her. The sound is Australiana with a Celtic streak: part alt-country, part bluegrass, theatrical and a little quirky. It can be stripped back to folk for a small room or turned into a stomping roots set for a festival crowd, and she's played Horsham RegFest and the Melbourne Muster. Her first album, produced by Matt Fell, went to the top of ARIA's Australian country album chart, and six of its singles reached the top 10 on AMRAP and on Australian country radio. She grew up on Kasey Chambers, Slim Dusty and Graeme Connors, with Alison Krauss, Celine Dion, Jewel and Shania Twain in the mix. Home is the Mornington Peninsula.
