First Ladies Of Soul

Three Sydney singers, Kim Hart, Jo Elms and Liza Ohlback, share the front of First Ladies Of Soul, a show built on songs made famous by the great women of soul. The program moves through Gladys Knight, Roberta Flack, Aretha Franklin, Natalie Cole, Etta James, Randy Crawford, Freda Payne and Diana Ross, with deep funk and some raunchy blues in the mix. Behind the vocalists is a live band that includes Victor Rounds, Jay Stewart, Kimi Tupaea, Eric Rasmussen and Brendan St Ledger. It's a concert as much as a party set, so it lands best where people will listen, move a little and join in on the choruses they know.
