Eric Downer

For a crowd that wants deep house, techno, minimal or ambient, played by someone who's lived through the scene, Eric Downer is worth a look. He's been DJing for more than 30 years, starting in the early 90s in Kitchener, Ontario, with radio and warehouse parties not far from Detroit. Later he worked in a record store in London, Ontario, passing new music from Detroit, Chicago, Berlin and Toronto to local DJs, before settling in Toronto. Now in Byron Bay, he hosts Sound Streams, his long-running electronic music show on 99.9 Bay FM, and sells vinyl at Flo Records in Bangalow. His sets suit clubs, festivals and off-grid parties.
