Eon Beats

Dancefloor jazz, deep soul and heavy funk make up the Eon Beats sound, the kind of set that suits a late cocktail party or a club-style night. Saxophonist Rick Robertson leads the band. Rick helped start both D.I.G and Eon, and has played festivals as far afield as Montreux. Evelyn Duprai sings, Ian Mussington drums and Gerard Masters plays keys, and the full line-up can run to eight or nine with percussion, a DJ and horns. Between them, the players have toured with James Morrison, Missy Higgins, Silverchair and Soul Asylum. The band formed for the Sydney club scene, starting with a residency at Bennelong at the Opera House, then regular nights at the Slip Inn and the Home Bar, sold-out shows at the Basement, and festivals including St Kilda, Playground Weekender and Darling Harbour Jazz. Their album Blue Rhythm People is all original material.
