Elysia

Elysia is a jazz duo with Elysia Murphy singing and Steve Hensby on guitar and vocals. Steve is a Berklee graduate, and he plays bass lines, chords and harmony vocals at the same time, so two people sound like a small band. The set covers swing, bossa nova, bebop, ballads and blues, plus their own original songs, with some sung in French and Portuguese. Both of them improvise. Their influences reach from Billie Holiday, Chet Baker, Ella Fitzgerald, Joe Pass and Sarah Vaughan to Melody Gardot, Kurt Elling, Esperanza Spalding and Aretha Franklin. It's music for a dinner, a wine bar or a cocktail hour where people will actually listen.
