Dr Soul is a cover band based in Perth, WA.
Ten players and a four-piece horn section: Dr Soul is a big funk and soul band, and it sounds like one. Band leader Rich has pulled together Perth musicians for the job, with layered vocal harmonies over a tight rhythm section. There's a full Tina Turner bracket, from Proud Mary and Nutbush to Private Dancer, The Best and River Deep, Mountain High, and a Commitments bracket with Mustang Sally, Hard to Handle, Chain of Fools and Try a Little Tenderness. Elsewhere you'll hear Al Green, Stevie Wonder, Otis Redding, Earth, Wind & Fire and Aretha Franklin, next to newer names like Sam Smith, Amy Winehouse and Beyonce.
