David Boon

There's a stand named after David Boon at the NTCA Ground in Launceston, which says plenty about how Tasmania rates him. He played cricket for his state and for Australia as a right-handed batsman, opening the innings or coming in at number three, and he became a well-known figure to cricket crowds around the world. After he stopped playing in 1999, he worked in marketing for the Tasmanian Cricket Association and then, from 2000, sat on the national selection panel. So he has stories from the crease and from the selectors' table. He speaks at sporting functions and works as an MC, a good fit for a cricket club dinner or a corporate event full of cricket fans.
