Caxton Street

Hot jazz from the early 1900s is the starting point for Caxton Street, a Brisbane jazz band that plays as a six-piece. They don't stop there, though. Folk, country, big band swing, rhythm and blues, mainstream jazz and the popular tunes of the 30s to the 50s all find their way into the set, and the band works to give that older material a fresh edge. It lands with people who'd never call themselves jazz fans, as well as with the ones who would. So they're a sound choice for a community event or a private function where tastes are mixed. Jazz clubs and festivals book them too, and the work takes them across Queensland and down into the north and centre of New South Wales.
