Benny Purnell is a singer-songwriter based in East Ballina, NSW.
Solo, Benny Purnell sings, plays acoustic guitar and keeps time with two stomp boxes, all at once. It gives one person a surprisingly big, driving sound. For more, there's a duo with a drummer, with a lead guitarist on request, or his three-piece rock band Tubed Radio. The music leans rock and blues with a little folk and reggae. He plays originals, three hours or more of covers, or usually a mix: Nirvana, Grinspoon, Talking Heads, INXS, Sublime, Neil Young, Jet and The Black Keys, with Stevie Wonder and Steppenwolf in there too. He fits in with your run sheet, and his own PA and lights cover small and medium venues. Outdoor evening gigs need shelter. Based in East Ballina, he travels statewide and holds public liability insurance.
