Astronafrica

Percussion sits at the heart of an Astronafrica set. The Brazilian-born DJ mixes house and jazz with moody dub and a psychedelic edge, always led by rhythms from across the African diaspora, and the sound keeps shifting as the night goes. He has lived in Sydney for more than twenty years. In 2007 he started a weekly show on Eastside Radio 89.7FM and kept it going for 11 years, playing music from Brazil and interviewing local and international artists. He also works as a cultural curator. For a late bar crowd or a party that wants something deeper than chart hits, his sets give people a groove to settle into.
