An Excellent Vintage Selection

Think prohibition-era speakeasy jazz, big band swing, 50s rhythm and blues and classic movie musical hits, plus a few modern songs given vintage arrangements. An Excellent Vintage Selection covers music from the 1920s to now, from Ella Fitzgerald, Doris Day, Peggy Lee, Judy Garland, Etta James and Bessie Smith to Ray Charles, Adele and Amy Winehouse, with vintage-style takes on Michael Jackson and The White Stripes. The full show is a seven-piece band with male and female vocalists, and two dancers if you want them, over two 50-minute sets. There are plenty of costume changes, so it needs room at the side of the stage. Smaller line-ups play three sets of 45 to 50 minutes, from a duo of voice and guitar or piano up to an eight-piece with trumpet, trombone and sax or clarinet. Melly, the singer, has more than 15 years on stage, including a number of well-known musical theatre productions.
