1 Reverend FUNK & The Horns of Salvation is a cover band based in Melbourne, VIC.
Early in the night it might be jazz and chill. Later it's funk, soul, R&B and Motown, played entirely live by 1 Reverend FUNK & The Horns of Salvation, with no backing tracks at all. The set draws on Stax, James Brown, Aretha, Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind & Fire and Tower of Power, running up to Daft Punk, Bruno Mars and Amy Winehouse. It's pitched as a funk show for a dance floor, not a standard wedding band. Line-ups range from a solo ceremony singer or a jazz duo, trio or quartet up to a funk band of five to ten, with horns and extra vocalists at the larger end. Sets run 2 x 60 or 3 x 40 minutes, and they can back a guest artist live. The Melbourne band travels nationwide and supplies PA and lighting on request. It's covered for public liability, its players hold Working With Children Checks, and it has backstage accreditation at Crown Melbourne.
